Microsoft games marketing veteran Aaron Greenberg announces a new version of the Xbox Series X mini fridge is available now at retailers.
Xbox vice president of games marketing Aaron Greenberg revealed a brand-new Xbox Series X mini fridge is available now in the U.S. The new Xbox Series X mini fridge is even smaller than the original mini fridge and features a number of improvements that fans have requested.
The new “Mini-Me” Xbox Series X mini fridge is available now at Walmart for $79, and a global rollout is planned for a later date according to Greenberg. Xbox received many fan requests for a smaller version of the original Xbox Series X mini fridge at a lower price. After considering the substantial amount of feedback, Xbox decided to create the new Xbox Series X mini fridge with a 4.5-liter form factor. The mini fridge measures 7.3 inches in width and depth with 14.3 inches in height, to be exact. A number of improvements were made including an updated design and reduced operating noise.
Although the overall size was reduced, it still retains features found on the original Xbox Series X mini fridge, such as the snack compartment and the 5V 2.1A USB port. Users can store eight 12 or 16-oz. cans within the new 4.5-liter Xbox Series X mini fridge, and a snack compartment is available on the inside wall of the fridge door. The front Xbox logo lights up when the mini fridge is powered on to mimic an actual Xbox Series X console. An ambient green light on the top of the mini-fridge will turn on when powered as well. Furthermore, the front USB port on the fridge door may be used to charge phones and controllers.
After revealing the new mini-fridge, Greenberg confirmed that more units are being produced due to high demand. Xbox plans to continue producing the original Xbox Series X mini fridge and the new 4.5-liter version for the foreseeable future. Greenberg will likely share more updates regarding the Xbox Series X mini fridge through his official Twitter account.
The 4.5-liter Xbox Series X mini fridge appears to be ideal for small desks and gaming setups. Xbox further optimized the space within the mini fridge, allowing it to still hold a substantial amount of beverages and snacks within a smaller form factor. At the same time, the conveniently designed USB port allows players to charge their phones without having to plug in another charging brick into the same outlet.
Various Walmart locations in the U.S. have sold out of the Xbox Series X mini fridge for now. Fortunately, more Xbox Series X mini fridge units are on the way ahead of the holiday season. Xbox appears to be working ahead of Xbox Series X mini fridge scalpers this time around.
