Microsoft teases Xbox Series X|S enhancement news and other “exciting” platform updates

According to Xbox director of program management Jason Ronald, some “exciting” Xbox platform updates are on the way. Major Nelson has also teased that some “enhancement news” is also coming soon.

“We’ve got a lot of really exciting things that are coming down the pipeline over the coming months and over the coming years,” Ronald told Major Nelson during an episode of Major Nelson Radio. “We’re also partnering really closely with key game developers from all across the industry to really take full advantage of all the next-gen capabilities that we put in the Xbox Series X and Series S. We really are excited as we get further into the year and closer to this holiday to start sharing more of the details about what’s in development.”

Following the chat with Jason Ronald, Major Nelson goes on to tease fans further about what Ronald and his team have in the pipeline, “He also kind of talked a little bit about it, but I guess I can say a little bit, there will be some enhancement news coming soon. It’s all I can say.”

It’s unclear what this “enhancement news” might be, but Ronald himself recently confirmed to fans on Twitter that we would hear more on backwards compatibility enhancements, such as improved frame rates, in 2021, so it’s possible that whatever Major Nelson is teasing could be related to Roland’s tweet.

During the same podcast, Ronald revealed that the missing achievements tab on the Xbox mobile app would return in the “coming months.”
