According to the report, Microsoft are aggressively trying to get some third-party exclusive deals for Xbox Series X|S via their Xbox Game Studios Publishing program.
Recently, we got some rumblings regarding Microsoft’s announced exclusives such as Everwild, Fable and Perfect Dark. Apparently, these are still “years away” and could even launch on the new Xbox Series X console, which is expected four years from now.
That’s why Microsoft are looking to wrap up the deals for third-party exclusives, according to GamesIndustry.biz editor Christopher Dring. “When you look at the Hideo Kojima stuff you wonder if they are signing third parties in the moment because they don’t have a line-up of big exclusives at all,” he said in a VGC podcast recently.
Today, we have a new report coming from WindowsCentral’s Jez Corden, who claims that in addition to the rumoured Hideo Kojima deal, Microsoft are in talks with another developer to publish their AAA game under the Xbox Game Studios publishing program.
Corden teased this partnership with a “Cyclone” emoji and confirmed that this game is a brand new IP, not an existing franchise. Sadly, he did not reveal additional details about this potential Xbox third-party exclusive.
All in all, if Microsoft are indeed aggressively trying to get some major third-party games for Xbox Game Studios Publishing, then we should hear more about the deals at their upcoming E3 show or later this year. Stay tuned!
