Minecraft on Xbox Series X|S could receive ray tracing support soon

Ray tracing looks like it might finally be heading to Minecraft on Xbox Series X|S after some users with the latest Minecraft Preview build discovered they could turn on the feature.

As spotted by The Verge’s Tom Warren, the Minecraft Preview now appears to be optimised for Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Insiders who have downloaded the latest Preview build can now seemingly toggle on and off a new ray tracing option. From what we’ve seen, only a small selection of users seem to have the feature, with some reporting that the option is there, but it’s greyed out and can’t be turned on.

Mojang Studios officially rolled out ray tracing for Minecraft on PC back in 2020, but there hasn’t been any word on the feature coming to Xbox Series X|S consoles. In fact, Mojang hasn’t made any mention of ray tracing coming to the latest Minecraft Preview build, nor has it said anything on Xbox Series X|S optimisations for the game.

Judging by what those have discovered in the latest Preview build, we should hopefully hear more on ray tracing for Minecraft on Xbox Series X|S consoles soon.
