Modern Warfare 2 Beta Was Biggest in Series History

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta was the biggest in series history. With the beta ending yesterday, the Call of Duty team thanks fans for participating across all platforms in the Modern Warfare 2 open beta, while revealing new content information for its upcoming releases.

Players have plenty of incentive to jump into Modern Warfare 2 early, such as the ability to unlock beta unlocks and rewards that carry over into the actual game upon its release. The opportunity to jump into the next iteration of Call of Duty early was taken advantage of by players, as this beta was, as the team puts it, for the record books.

The Call of Duty team thanks fans in a blog post, revealing that the Modern Warfare 2 open beta had the most players in Call of Duty history. The team assures fans that this was only a small sample of content that is on the way for the game, while including that those who digitally pre-order Modern Warfare 2 will get to play the campaign a week early on October 20. Shortly after the game’s release, on October 28, Warzone 2.0 will arrive free-to-play on November 16. The almost one-month time span will give fans plenty of time to prepare for Warzone 2.0 season 1 release before then. The blog post describes that after Warzone 2.0 goes live, the next big release is Warzone Mobile, which is launching early next year.

On top of the Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 beta rewards, the Call of Duty team describes other reward content for Warzone Mobile, as it is reported to be the fastest game to top 15 million pre-registrations for Activision, Blizzard, and King Mobile. As a result, players who pre-register before launch can unlock the Emblem: Dark Familiar, Vinyl: Foe’s Flame, the x12 Prince of Hell Blueprint, and M4 – Archfiend Weapon Blueprints. There is also one more unrevealed reward for when Warzone Mobile hits 25 million pre-registrations. Players have offered suggestions based on the Modern Warfare 2 open beta, and with so much content on the way, there will be much to keep them busy.

The Call of Duty blog post thanks players, and Infinity Ward, as well as all the teams responsible for the new era of Call of Duty between Modern Warfare 2, Warzone 2, and Warzone Mobile. The team states that players who pre-order the Vault edition of Modern Warfare 2 will receive the benefit of not only early campaign access, but also the Red Team 141 Operator pack, FJX Cinder Weapon Vault, Season One Battle Pass, and 50 Tier Skips.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
