Just last week it was reported that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 could possibly receive a “greatest hits” map pack. Now a new rumor suggests that Modern Warfare 2 will also receive a campaign DLC pack alongside the release of the multiplayer map pack.
The news comes from Twitter user TheGhostOfHope, a reliable insider when it comes to all things Call of Duty. Taking to Twitter, Hope said, “Campaign DLC to be released in late 2023 bundled with map pack I leaked previously”. Previous reports from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier have suggested that Activision has delayed Treyarch’s 2023 Call of Duty title, which means the Modern Warfare 2 campaign DLC could be released in its place.
Infinity Ward is yet to comment on the matter, but there have been rumors circulating for some time that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would have a two year lifespan. Essentially, this means the game will be supported with new content updates, seasons, and DLC packs for two years, as opposed to the 1-year life span Call of Duty has become custom to.
The news of a campaign DLC for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was also corroborated by Jason Schreier, who had previously broken the news of Activision delaying 2023’s Call of Duty title. Replying to arguing fans on Twitter, Schreier said “Next year they’ll be selling new stuff for MW2, an expansion or something like that (not sure exactly what it’ll look like but it’ll have campaign stuff too). No actual new COD until 2024 as I reported earlier this year”.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 28th. Players who pre-order any copy of Modern Warfare 2 can gain one-week early access to the campaign, meaning they can jump in from October 20th.
