Modern Warfare 2 GRC Standard Acerbration Confirmed, But Only on PC

The ones that haven’t taken care of Overwatch 2s SMS Protect are disappointed. It’s important that infinity Ward confirmed that there is no requirement for a standard SMS verification. This requirement isn’t the same size as the PC version, thus it also raises a lot of concerns about the developers sluggish use of call of duty on PC.

Earlier this week, we reported that a support page from Battle.net was updated so that one would find out that access to Modern Warfare 2 would be locked behind SMS-checks similar to Overwatch 2. While Blizzard rolled the smlback measure following player outrage, Infinity Ward instead doubled down on the measure. And here’s the good news: it’s now confirmed that modern Warfare 2 will only be required on PC. Here is what Activision said about it through the press release.

SMS verification is an important tool in combating fraud, as it will tackle the threat of illegal account creation. Here, a text-abled phone number must be used to play Modern War II on PC.

Those who have previously verified their account will not be required to provide further information to access Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2. The SMS policy for Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 on Battle.net is the same as the requirements for Call of Duty on PC, which was launched in May 2020. You must connect a mobile phone to your Steam account so that you can play Modern Warfare II.

Interestingly, there was no mention of the console versions of the game, or whether the requirement would also be extended to those versions. Of course, despite the open nature of platform, cheating and whatnot is significantly more widespread compared to consoles.

The company also confirmed that the Ricochet anti-cheat system and its PC kernel-level driver will launch day and day with the release of modern Warfare 2 on October 28 and Warzone 2 on November 16.

Modern Warfare 2 is expected to take place October 28 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The preorder will be able to play the campaign one week earlier.
