Monster Hunter Rise, Capcom’s next title in the Monster Hunter series, won’t be a Switch exclusive – at least not completely. The team told IGN Japan that the upcoming title will also be coming to PC, though not till next year.
Speaking with IGN Japan, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto told the website that, thanks to requests from fans (especially overseas ones), the studio decided to develop a PC version of the upcoming game. It’s currently under development, but is slated to hit PC in “early 2022.”
This follows the trend of recent Monster Hunter titles coming to console first, only to release on PC a while later. Monster Hunter World released in 2012 and saw massive success both on console as well as the eventual PC version.
However, with Tsujimoto stating that the upcoming Rise installment being built with the Switch itself in mind, it’ll be interesting how the team translates any gameplay or Switch-specific features to the PC, or if the technical limitations of the hardware itself will influence the final look and feel of the eventual PC port.
Monster Hunter Rise will release on the Nintendo Switch later this month on March 26th.
