History was made Friday night when West Ranch football edged Valencia 23-20 for the first time in school history. Junior quarterback Ryan Staub threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Wildcats (5-1).

Kicker Jason Anderson’s 30-yard go-ahead field goal would prove to be the game winner with 1:55 remaining to break the 20-20 tie.

West Ranch moves into an early first-place position in the Foothill League. Valencia drops to 2-3 overall, 0-1 in league play.

Agoura quarterback Ty Dieffenbach led the Chargers (5-1) to a 34-28 road win over Newbury Park Thursday night thanks to his five touchdown passes and 364 yards.

Dieffenbach’s efforts helped to orchestrate an epic comeback after Newbury Park was up 21-0 with 1:37 left in the opening half.

Chaminade’s Josh Mailander had six catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns. Paul Holyfield had 108 yards rushing on 12 carries. Isaiah Chisom had two sacks.

The Eagles are now 4-1 with its 43-6 Mission League win over Cathedral Friday night. The victory marked coach Ed Croson’s 200th all-time win as a head coach.

Junior running back Quincy Holland led Royal to a 30-27 nail-biting win over Thousand Oaks with his 196 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries Friday night. Holland’s 9-yard touchdown run with less than six minutes to play ended up being the game-winning score as the Highlanders moved to 4-2. Thousands Oaks fell to 4-3.

Village Christian (5-0) remained unbeaten after a 61-0 rout of Maranatha in its Olympic League opener. Nate Bennett threw for 306 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for a score. Logan Everett ran for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Ryan Dellutri hauled in 152 yards receiving and two scores.

Birmingham Charter (1-5) earned its first win of the season with a 33-0 win over Westchester. Arlis Boardingham, who has received offers from Texas and USC, caught four passes for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback David Jordan-Oliveros completed 9 of 13 passes for 164 yards, four touchdowns and an interception.

Reseda (3-2) topped Sylmar 54-6 in Valley Mission League action thanks to its defense. The Regents had three defensive touchdowns, all by way of scoop and scores. Jason Wagner Jr. had a 52-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Max Garrison was at it again Friday night. He had 21 carries, 160 yards rushing with three touchdowns in St. Francis’ overtime win against Steele Canyon, 32-25.

Clint Geryak hit a field goal with 10 seconds left to tie the game. Before Garrison scored the game-winning score in the extra frame.

Chatsworth defeated Taft in West Valley League play 33-21. Chancellors’ running back Darrion Wells ran for two touchdowns. Taft quarterback Wellington Bristow threw for 196 yards and two touchdowns.
