Xbox gamers will soon be able to select a default storage location for different game types, thanks to a new feature that is currently being tested in the Xbox Insider Alpha Ring.
What this means is that you could choose to automatically install Series X|S optimized games onto the console’s SSD or onto a Seagate Expansion Card. While at the same time backwards-compatible games and apps that don’t necessarily need the benefits of a solid-state drive could be automatically stored on an external hard drive or thumb drive.
This would save users the hassle of having to switch back and forth between storage locations. And it would be a great way to make the most of available storage options.

This feature comes on the heels of another exciting tweak implemented in the previous Insider build from earlier in the week: a new, tabbed UI in the Games & Apps section, which we reported on also. We would expect both these additions to be real crowd-pleasers when they become available to the public.
You can check out the patch notes for this latest build over on Xbox Wire.
