Similar to the PlayStation, it seems odd that SEGA would not bring the game to Nintendo Switch, which is incredibly popular in the U.S. It just feels like a missed opportunity to ignore that entire player base. While PSO2 had a staggered release across various consoles and regions, PSO2: New Genesis actually rolled out globally at the same time. With all of this possible profit upfront, it’s possible SEGA could have the resources and incentive to bring it to Nintendo Switch.
Again, we don’t know if this is a decision on SEGA’s part or if Microsoft paid for some sort of exclusivity deal in the U.S. That could explain why it came to other consoles in Japan where the Xbox isn’t as prominent.
Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is an online action RPG and successor to the base game. New Genesis takes us to a new world with wide-open environments. The graphics have been improved and the character models enhanced. The combat has also been overhauled for more action-centric gameplay. If that’s the case, then it’s possible that PSO2: New Genesis could remain an Xbox and PC exclusive for at least the foreseeable future.
