New PS5 and PS4 games coming in October 2021

October typically marks the start of the video game industry’s busiest time of season and if you need proof of that, just look at the lengthy list of new games releasing for PlayStation next month. From Alan Wake Remastered to Far Cry 6 to Guardians of the Galaxy, there’s a ton to look forward to.

For sports fans, we’ve got new installments in FIFA 22 and NHL 22, with both franchise making a legitimate leap to next-gen. We’ve got Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, which is basically a Super Smash Bros. clone featuring iconic Nickelodeon characters. Far Cry 6 probably doesn’t need any introduction.

We’ve got another Marvel game in Eidos Montreal’ss Guardians of the Galaxy, which actually looks surprisingly fun. It may be worth checking out, even if you felt burned by Crystal Dynamics Marvel’s Avengers.

Below you’ll find the list of new games coming to both PS4 and PS5 in October 2021. Most of the games will be released on both PS4 and PS5. Games releasing exclusively on PS5 are specifically noted.

  • FIFA 22 – October 1
  • Alan Wake Remastered – October 5
  • BPM: Bullets Per MInute – October 5
  • Exophobia – October 5
  • Hell Let Loose (PS5) – October 5
  • Jett: The Far Shore – October 5
  • Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl – October 5
  • Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania – October 5

  • Back 4 Blood – October 12

  • Toy Soldiers HD – October 21
  • The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes – October 22
  • Guardians of the Galaxy – October 26
  • Iron Harvest Complete Edition (PS5) – October 26
  • Solar Ash – October 26
  • Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water – October 28
  • Riders Republic – October 28

One thing you may notice is the lack of PlayStation exclusives. Most of the titles coming in October are multiplatform. With the delay of Horizon Forbidden West, Sony’s got no real big holiday blockbuster exclusive. Sony’s recent PlayStation 5 showcase featured plenty of exciting game announcements, but many of them won’t be out until 2022-23 at the earliest.

That’s not to say there won’t be plenty to keep you busy this holiday season. I see three or four games at least that I’m interested in October alone. Which games will you be buying on PlayStation in October?
