With the release of Splatoon 3, Nintendo has updated the Nintendo Switch Online companion app for Android and iOS, adding some great new features in the process.
Nintendo has nevertheless made some of its other IP available for smartphones, although with toned-down gameplay, even though Splatoon 3 itself is not available for mobile gaming devices. One of its most well-known mobile games is Fire Emblem Heroes, which also happens to be the company’s top revenue generator for the first quarter of 2022. Despite only receiving 121,000 new downloads during the period, the game’s global player spending generated more than $29 million for the company. Given the competitive online FPS aspects and mechanics of the game, it would be nice to see a Splatoon port for smartphones.
Splatoon 3 widgets can now be added to users’ home screens with the Switch Online software installed on their smartphones. Of course, you’ll need to have the software updated to version 2.3.0 and be logged into your Nintendo Network ID. Thanks to the new improvements, users will now be able to pin combat logs, stage schedules, current gear, and a photo album.
If you haven’t used the Switch Online App yet, go to the Google Play Store to get it for free.
