Xbox boss Phil Spencer has teased the existence of new Xbox hardware and this time, it looks like the promised streaming device.
Microsoft has had a good 2022, but that does not mean that there have been any major new products. Much of its success came from the popularity of Game Pass, which was in the shortest time possible, and has finally gotten very early with another ace, so its streaming service is offering it.
Although it hasn’t been running yet, Microsoft has made a lot of fuss about streaming so far. Because it works out the kinks and waits for the internet to sand down and get faster, it doesn’t sound a little boring as it is just the streaming service. The next big step would be putting on a standalone streaming device, which Phil Spencer seemed to have secretly revealed.
The device has been named Keystone, and he has done this before, where he hasn’t found out an Xbox series S sitting on the shelf, of video interviews he has conducted during the pandemic, so there will soon be a new device lurking behind him.
Even though the biggest reason of this is that you don’t have a console that could run games, you need one kind of device that could connect to a TV and controller, and the fact is that this is what Keystone is.
Sometimes this is just a USB stick like the Chromecast Ultra for Google Stadia, but a keystone is a bit bigger than that.
Microsoft officially announced it last year, but hasn’t shown or spoken about it publicly. Its considered that it will work like a smart TV with an interface that lets you select games and other media apps like Netflix or Disney’s.
There are already an Xbox TV app for Samsung TVs and monitors, so Keystone would likely use a variation of that.
Microsoft is just trying to deny the box on display is a streaming device, with the official Xbox Twitter account saying: “Well what did we say about making old prototypes on your shelf boss?”
Tom Warren has also claimed its Xbox 360 100% streaming device, although its external design can’t be changed a little before release.
It isn’t clear when Microsoft will launch the device, but a little bit expensive, but it’s likely not. If there were a version with a controller, it would cost upwards of 54.99 a wireless gamepad.
Yes, that is 100% downloadable Xbox, as well as a code name, Keystone, https://t.co/k4P2XVOxZA.
