Starting pitcher Jet Lovett and the other Newnan pitchers will be toeing the rubber at the Braves Truist Park next Saturday.

The Atlanta Braves may have lost the opportunity to host the 2021 All-Star game, but they gained the privilege to host two home games for the Newnan Cougars.

Newnan will play at the Braves home field on Saturday morning, April 17 and 10 a.m. against the North Cobb Christian Eagles (8-10) and then return on Wednesday April 21 for their senior night ceremonies against region foe Pebblebrook.

Admission to the games will be free with the gates opening an hour before game time.

After a two-week hiatus from the devastating aftermath of the tornado, the Cougars baseball team has returned to play, albeit a bit of a nomadic schedule. They will play a key Region 2-7A game Monday night against county rival East Coweta at Northgate’s home field.

They will also play two home games at East Coweta next week, Tuesday night against McEachern and Friday night against Union Grove.

Currently, the Cougars are 10-4, including 4-1 and only a half game lead away from the top spot in the region.
