The NFL will have its lightest Sunday afternoon slate to date in Week 6 of the 2022 season. That’s because the league is beginning its cycle of bye weeks this week, so four of the league’s teams will be rendered inactive.
The Lions, Raiders, Texans and Titans will all be off in Week 6. Tennessee is the only team with a winning record, so that may improve the quality of the games on Sunday afternoon — at least on paper.
Per usual, it will be Fox and CBS that split coverage of the 11-game Sunday slate. CBS will have the right to broadcast the doubleheader in Week 6, but it’s actually Fox that will broadcast a greater chunk of the games.
There is a reason for that. CBS took five games from this slate and is effectively treating the Chiefs vs. Bills game as a standalone contest. It will be the only 4:25 p.m. ET game in the NFL this week and it will be broadcast on CBS for the entire country to see. Its only competition will come from the regionally broadcast Seahawks-Cardinals and Panthers-Rams games on Fox.

This is a smart move for CBS, as the Bills-Chiefs game is a rematch of the much-celebrated playoff meeting between the two last season during which Kansas City won 42-36 in overtime. There will be plenty of interest in this contest and it may end up being among the best regular-season games this year.
The rest of CBS’s coverage will be largely regionalized, with the Giants vs. Ravens taking center stage in its early afternoon slate. The same will be true of Fox, which will rely on the Packers-Jets game to carry its coverage.

TV schedule for NFL Week 6 games
NFL fans will be treated to a nice “Sunday Night Football” matchup in Week 6, as the 4-1 Cowboys will host the 5-0 Eagles in a battle for the top spot in the NFC East. Dallas has won four in a row with backup Cooper Rush starting and has seen Micah Parsons blossom into one of the NFL’s best defensive players. Meanwhile, the Eagles have a loaded roster with few weaknesses and their strong offense should test Dallas in a way that it hasn’t been tested so far this season.
“Monday Night Football” is a divisional matchup as well. The Broncos (2-3) and Chargers (3-2) will do battle for second place in the AFC West. Both Russell Wilson and Justin Herbert have dealt with injuries this season, along with their teams, so it may be the healthier squad that prevails in this one.
