Nier Replicant India Release Date Delayed

Nier Replicant is delayed for India. The hotly anticipated action role-playing game has an April 23 release date the world over for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC. However the India Nier Replicant release date is now April 30. Multiple retailers speaking to IGN India on condition of anonymity confirmed this. Furthermore, specialist retailer Games The Shop has updated its listing to state that the game will ship on April 30 as would MotoGP 21.

What this means is, if you want to play Nier Replicant day one and can’t wait, you’re better off ordering it digitally. That said, the reason for the delay seems to be due to shipping issues on Square Enix’s end rather than the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, sources in the supply chain tell us. This delay follows news of Nier Replicant skipping the Xbox Series X and One in India. Hilarious when you consider strong Series X sales in recent months.

Square Enix’s distributor E-xpress confirmed to IGN India that the disc version of Nier Replicant for the Xbox Series X and Xbox One is skipping the country. No reason for this omission was given. Prior to this, we noticed that pre-order pages for the Xbox version of the game were delisted from Amazon India and E-xpress’ own retail store, Games The Shop.

“Nier Replicant will be released on PC and PS4 in India, but not on Xbox,” a spokesperson for E-xpress told IGN India over email.

We pressed further, asking why E-xpress has decided not to bring the game to the country.

“E-xpress still continues its platform-agnostic approach for all game releases,” claims the company. “However, in this case, it was due to unforeseen circumstances.”

In the past the company had professed that Xbox was important to its business.

“Every platform is important to us and that includes Xbox. The response has been good to popular third-party games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and so on,” claimed the company previously to Japanese video games site The Mako Reactor.

It’s likely that E-xpress is only interested in catering to the 90 percent of Indian console gamers that are on PS4 and PS5 rather than attempt to grow the market. Odd when you consider that Microsoft has been a lot more consistent in bringing Xbox Series X consoles into the country versus Sony. You can’t even buy a PS4 officially in India right now, let alone a PS5.
