Filipino squad Nigma Galaxy overcame a sluggish group stage performance before stamping their class in the grand finals against Vietnam’s Cerberus Esports, 4-2, to conquer the ESL Snapdragon Pro Series 2022 APAC title on Sunday.
They finished the group stage with a shaky 4-3 win-loss card but emerged on top of five-game thrillers against Vietnam’s Team Flash and Thailand’s Buriram United Esports in the lower bracket to reach the top three.
Nigma went on to avenge their Snapdragon Pro Series 2022 – MSP Open Finals loss to Rex Regum Qeon in August this year via a 3-0 sweep in the lower bracket finals.
In the series-clinching Game 6 of the grand finals, Nigma banked on Justine Ritchie “Juschie” Tan’s (Morgana) exploits in a dominant early game to take a 5th minute 5-1 kill lead that they easily extended into a massive 9-2 spread late in the 12th minute.
Nigma did not look back from there en route to the championship with Aaron “Aaron” Mark Bingay leading the charge off an immaculate 7-0-3 KDA on the Garen pick.
Juscie finished with a 2-0-11 KDA.
