Fans are speculating that a new Nintendo Direct could come in the next week or so, based on clues from Nintendo’s website and a lack of new game info.
Some Nintendo fans think that there could be a new Nintendo Direct livestream coming in September. Every few months or so, Nintendo holds a special Nitnendo Direct event to showcase upcoming indie games or put the spotlight on a single major AAA release. Thus far, some of the September 2022 Nintendo Direct rumors seem more credible than others.
One of the last Nintendo Mini Direct livestreams was held at the end of June and was somewhat more modest than what fans were expecting going into the summer game reveal season. The biggest news to come was the official confirmation that no less than three Persona titles were bound for the Nintendo Switch within the next year or so, starting with the hit Persona 5: Royal on October 21. Then came a Splatoon 3-centric Nintendo Direct in early August, which unveiled new features and story details for the upcoming paintball shooter. Now, there are signs that Nintendo is getting ready to show off something new in the coming month.
Twitter user tee recently noticed an interesting post from Nintendo’s official website while Google-searching Nintendo Direct, one that implies that a new Direct livestream will be shown on September 2. However, the link itself goes to the video for Nintendo Direct’s February 2022 stream, even as the text on the Google result suggests that it’s coming “in 4 days.” Meanwhile, Twitter user GamesCage – Hype Guy also speculated that a new Nintendo Direct livestream could happen in the next few days due to Nintendo not putting one out in July and not having any major first-party titles dated for the remainder of 2022 at the moment – not counting second or third-party exclusives like Bayonetta 3 or Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Of course, this is all just conjecture at this point, Nintendo has yet to make any official announcements about a new Direct showcase as of this writing.
Nintendo Direct September 2022 Could Be On The Way
Even if there’s a Nintendo Direct September 2022 livestream in the cards, it’s still a mystery what games will be featured. Another Mini showcase of smaller indie titles is possible, but many fans have suspected that a new Direct could be centered around the highly-anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 – which was originally planned to launch this year before it was delayed to allow the development team more time to polish its open-world gameplay. On the other hand, others have speculated that Nintendo might not want to overshadow November’s Pokémon Scarlet and Violet by unveiling new details about BOTW 2 so close to the beginning of Gen 9 later this fall.
If there is going to be a Nintendo September 2022 livestream, it probably won’t be long before Nintendo makes an official announcement – especially if it is to be held later this week as some are suspecting. In the meantime, fans are busy searching the internet for clues as to when the next fun-filled Nintendo Direct stream is coming.
