Website Gematsu received confirmation from publisher NIS: America that those who own the PS4 version of Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will not have an upgrade path to the PS5 version set to launch in Spring 2023.
“NIS America just confirmed to me ‘No upgrade path is planned for the PS5 version of Ys IX: Monstrum Nox.’”
Gematsu further speculated that this is due to the PS5 version including all the DLC that has come since Ys IX: Monstrum Nox launched.
Not having an upgrade path isn’t what PS4 owners want to see, especially for those players who already own all the DLC.
It is however increasingly becoming the path more publishers are taking, as we continue to move away from the PS4 and other previous-generation consoles and jump fully into the new generation.
Even though NIS America confirmed that no upgrade path is planned, the release for this new PS5 version isn’t scheduled until next Spring.
There’s always the chance that things could change, however unlikely.
