We love ‘Complete Collections’. Whether that be because they are cheaper and easier to purchase than needing to splash out the cash for individual games, or because they give a chance to bring together full franchises and series’ as one, we don’t know. But with ExZeus: The Complete Collection on Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Switch, we don’t really care, for all that matters is being given the chance to take in this classic rail shooting series on our modern consoles.
Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox, PC, PlayStation and Switch, the ExZeus: The Complete Collection brings together the fast-action mech combat of ExZeus, along with its sequel – the creatively named ExZeus 2.
Both of these games have arrived in updated fashion, direct ports of the originals, with little in the way of remaster work. But that doesn’t bother us at all, and we’re super excited to see the bundle drop in.
It’s priced at £10.74 which makes it more than tempting for anyone looking for a new rail shooter, and comes with a host of ultra high-tech fighting robots for good measure. If that doesn’t immediately sell what Ziggurat Interactive are trying to do, we don’t know what will.
Your task is to take charge of these robots and use them as the last line of humanity’s defense, pushing back evil alien forces which are trying to wipe us out. It’s standard old school trope in that regards, but both games will allow for some itchy trigger fingers to get moving as players battle it out in a variety of arenas – cityscapes, forests, mountains, wastelands and down under the waves. With collectible gold letting you build your energy, shield, mega bombs and more, there’s not really too much to stop the action from really taking hold.
Should you be unfamiliar with either game, they are best described by us ripping their blurbs and placing them in front of your eyes…
- ExZeus – In the year 2102 C.E. a massive, previously unknown asteroid entered Earth’s orbit and began unleashing waves of attacks on the planet, killing thousands of people every day and devastating human civilization. The lucky few who survived the initial onslaught managed to escape deep underground, narrowly preventing humanity’s extinction. The Governing Council ordered an immediate counter-attack using three experimental robots: Calista, Sophia, and Dynamis. With that, Operation ExZeus was born. Now, you must choose one of the three giant flying robots to take into battle against the invading forces of Diadora. Soar through the skies, blast away enemies, and reclaim Earth for its people!
- ExZeus 2 – After a century of peace, Operation ExZeus and the defeat of Diadora are but a distant memory for the people of Earth. However, the peace was not to last. A new menace has emerged from deep space in the form of five mysterious pods, each one a weapon of mass destruction, which have landed in densely populated areas around the globe. To combat these new threats, Operation ExZeus has been reopened with the legendary robots Calista, Sophia, and Dynamis being fused together to create the ultimate fighting robot, Minos. Dominate the land and skies as you take control of Minos to repel the alien threat, destroy the five pods, and defeat the invaders once and for all!
