Oath Gaming won two rounds and finished third in two rounds Friday to overtake the Susquehanna Soniqs and capture the PUBG Continental Series 5: Americas championship.
The victory sends Oath to the $2 million PUBG Global Championship, scheduled for Nov. 19-Dec. 19 in Incheon, South Korea.
The Americas series standings were based on money earned over the three weeks of competition. Oath finished with $49,000. The Soniqs were next with $36,500 after winning two of the six rounds Friday and finishing third in one. Oath received an additional $20,000 bonus as the champ.
Oath, who didn’t finish among the top eight in the opening week, were the top team in both Week 2 and Week 3.
Dignitas came in third with $30,000. FIUMBA, who won one of the six rounds on Friday, took fourth with $24,500, and Spacestation Gaming placed fifth with $18,000.
Trogloditas, who wound up in eighth place, also won a round on Friday.
The Americas series championship round featured the top six teams from the North American group stage, the top six teams from the Latin American group stage and four teams that earned their berths in a last-chance qualifying event. The competition consisted of 36 matches over six days.
The PUBG Global Championship will include 32 teams. In addition to Oath, four teams from the Americas will qualify based on their season-long point totals.
