The Overwatch 2 Battle Pass has been blown wide open by Blizzard today, with the studio also announcing a new hero in the shape of Kiriko.
According to Blizzard, Overwatch 2 will have seasonal updates every nine weeks, while the battle pass will be packed with new heroes, game modes, maps and cosmetic items. Furthermore, if a new hero is part of a season, they will be unlocked immediately on the premium battle pass attack, while everyone else will grab them on the free track at Tier 55.
The launch of new heroes however won’t necessarily mean they will turn up in competitive mode right way. Kiriko for example is not going to be available in competitive play until two weeks after the launch of Overwatch 2 Season 1, which means Blizzard is able to tweak their performance if necessary.

With that said, Blizzard confirmed that Overwatch 2 Season 1 will feature a cyberpunk theme and adds the Mythic Genji Skin. It will offer the following goodies:
- Newest support hero, Kiriko
- 2 Epic Skins
- 1 Weapon Charm
- 2 Souvenirs
- 1 Highlight Intro
- 14 additional items (emotes, victory poses, name cards, sprays, player icons, etc.)
- Prestige Tier Titles (8 earnable titles available only after completing the entire pass)
Overwatch 2 won’t feature loot boxes, and players will instead be able to get their hands on items through a revamped and “consistently updated” in-game shop.
Blizzard will launch Overwatch 2 in Early Access form on PS5, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One on October 4, 2022.
