Jon Spector, the commercial lead behind the Overwatch franchise, has revealed that players will be able to unlock new heroes in Overwatch 2 by progressing through the battle pass free track.
The comments come following concern over the description for the Overwatch 2 Waypoint Pack, which is a content bundle available for purchase that includes a number of in-game items, such as skins, currency, and access to the Season One Premium Battle Pass.
The description for the Watchpoint Pack was posted on the Competitive Overwatch subreddit, and revealed that owners of the Premium Battle Pass would gain access to the latest hero for the game, Kiriko.
Folk were concerned that this meant they would have to pay for new heroes. However, the description was later changed to remove any references to the character and how player could obtain her.
Here’s what Spector had to say in his tweet:
Addressing some incomplete info posted early about our Overwatch 2 Battle Pass – we’ll be sharing all details ahead of launch, but want to confirm that new Overwatch 2 heroes will be available on the free track of the Battle Pass.
