The sport of canopy piloting was on display today in preparation of the upcoming World Games 2022.Crews were conducting test jumps at the Barber Motorsports Park this afternoon.Canopy Piloting involves a parachutist’s ability to control a canopy at high speeds and then spiral downwards and swoop down along a stretch of water, called the “swooping pond.”The parachutists are judged on speed, accuracy and distance.The World Games 2022 begins in Birmingham, July 7, 2022, and lasts for 10 days.An expected 3,600 athletes are expected to take part in more than 30 different sports.
