PC baseball: Saints fall against Valley City State in regular season finale | Sports

The Presentation College Saints jumped out to a 4-0 lead in Sunday’s opener before being swept in both games by the Valley City State Vikings.

The Saints fell 5-4 in the first game as they would be shut out in the second game 10-0.

One

Trevor Ball hit a 2 RBI single to right-center field as Kyle Angielski and Tyus Stanley scored for the Saints. The Saints defense held the Vikings to four hits in the opening innings of the game as the Saints jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. A misplayed grounder by the Vikings brought home Tyler Austin for the third run of the day. Evyn Booth recorded his fifth double and 12th RBI of the season, as Zachary Edwards scored on the double to left-center field.

The Saints were held to one hit in the final innings of the game. Led by a two-run home run, the Vikings added five runs on five hits in the sixth to take a 5-4 lead over the Saints. The Saints defense held the Vikings to a single hit in the final innings.

Edwards recorded the first hit of the second game for the Saints, as he singled to left field. The Saints defense held the Vikings to three hits in the first half of the game.

The Vikings recorded five runs on three hits in the fifth inning, including a late triple. The Vikings doubled their lead over the Saints in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs on three hits and two errors by the Saints defense. Ball recorded the second hit for the Saints on the top of the sixth and would be left on base.

Up next for Presentation College, the Saints will play in the NSAA Conference Tournament beginning on Friday.
