PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College sophomore forward Brett Berard (East Greenwich, R.I.) was named Hockey East Player of the Week on Monday, November 29. It marks the third-consecutive week that a Friar has captured Player of the Week honors and the fourth time overall this season (Nick Poisson – twice and Patrick Moynihan).
Berard posted six points on two goals and four assists over two games last weekend. On Friday against Dartmouth, he opened the scoring for the Friars and added two assists in a 7-4 come-from-behind victory over the Big Green. On Saturday, Berard tallied the game-winning goal in the first period and added two assists in the Friars’ 4-0 win over Brown to capture the Mayor’s Cup. Overall, Berard leads Hockey East in scoring with 21 points on 10 goals and 11 assists through 17 games played.
The 13th-ranked Friars return to Hockey East play this weekend with a key home-and-home series against No. 16 Northeastern beginning Friday night (Dec. 3) at Schneider Arena. Providence will visit the Huskies on Saturday (Dec. 4), which can be seen live on NESN+ beginning at 7 p.m.
