Persona 3 & 4 Next-Gen Versions Are Xbox Exclusive, Both Hit Game Pass In January

Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden are set to join the Xbox Game Pass library in January 2023, a launch date recently confirmed by publisher Atlus. At the time of the announcement, fans began to speculate whether the Xbox versions would be native Series X and S ports, considering the systems were named on the announcement post. Thanks to Gematsu, we now have some clarity on the matter.

Indeed, Atlus has confirmed to the outlet that the Xbox versions of Persona 3 & 4 will indeed be proper Xbox Series X|S apps, rather than backwards compatible versions. That means that both titles will be fully next-gen on Xbox Game Pass.

Over on PlayStation, however, that’s not the case. Atlus hasn’t revealed why, but at present, PlayStation players will be playing the PS4 versions of both JRPGs, even on PS5 hardware.

Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass on January 19th, 2023.
