PGA Tour 2K23 – release date news, cover star and what we know

PGA Tour 2K23 is coming this year – and it’s bringing back a very familiar face after a 11 year wait.

Following a leak, it’s now been confirmed by Tiger Woods himself, that he’ll be gracing the cover – as well as being one of the playable characters in the game.

The two covers, which likely refer to two different editions of the game have gone down a storm with the golfing community, with one outlet referring to them as ‘glorious’. We would agree.

2K has confirmed we will likely seeing the first gameplay later this month on August 22 – which is just before the annual Gamescom convention in Cologne.

They tweeted: “More information to come regarding #PGATOUR2K23 on 8/22. Stay tuned!”

While not confirmed, there could be every chance of playable code at the convention for press, or at the very least, some hands-off demonstrations of the game in action.

The last game Tiger Woods fronted was Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 – which was released in 2013.

PGA Tour 2K23 release date prediction

Nothing has been confirmed officially yet, but according to leaked listings for the game on Amazon, PGA Tour 2K23 suggest the game is set for an October 14, 2022 release.

In terms of platforms, the last game released on:

  • Stadia
  • PC
  • Nintendo Switch
  • PlayStation 4
  • Xbox One

We’d expect the new game to launch on the above, as well as on PS5, Xbox Series X / S.

The last PGA Tour game arrived two years ago and went down very well with critics. In their review of the game, IGN awarded it 7/10, concluding: “PGA Tour 2K21 delivers the most flexible and enjoyable game of golf since the Tiger Woods series was at its peak.”

PGA Tour 2K21 currently holds a 76 score on Metacritic, with a 6.4 user score – so fans will be hoping there are some improvements in this year’s iteration.
