3D Realms has announced Phantom Fury, a sequel to 2020’s Ion Fury (formerly Ion Maiden), an old-school-style first-person shooter in development at Slipgate Ironworks. A road-movie inspired affair, the follow-up will see the return of protagonist Shelly ‘Bombshell’ Harrison, in a new action-packed adventure.
Picking up some years after her battle with Jadus Heskel, Phantom Fury has Shelly roused from her coma by an old friend, only to find that she’s been fitted with a bionic arm “capable of incredible feats”. Her mission is to find the lethal Demon Core, an artifact that can cause total devastation in the wrong hands.
You’ll be able to wield more than 20 weapons, including new and old ones, like the Loverboy revolver and Bowling Bombs, while busting out punch attacks and electric shields with your robotic arm. Piloting helicopters, solving environmental puzzles, hacking computers, and playing arcade machines or air hockey will also feature.
Phantom Fury will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2023. Check out the reveal trailer below.
