Playground Games details Forza Horizon 5 Series 4 update, new cars

Forza Horizon 5 is already one of the most beloved entries in the busy racing game genre, but it’s also in a constant state of evolution. On Monday, members from the Playground Games team behind Forza Horizon 5 kicked off another Let’s Go! stream to share what’s coming next to the game. The Series 4 update is right around the corner, and will feature new cars, a community-wide racing-focused event, bug fixes, and much more.

Forza Horizon 5 manages to continually change over time via the Forza Horizon 5 Festival Playlist. The Festival Playlist introduces a new Series every four weeks, with different challenges, events, cars, and much more. For Series 4, the focus is all about racing and celebrating your favorite cars from different countries. The next Festival Playlist Series begins on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022, and will include plenty about which for players to get excited. Here are some of the highlights:

• Horizon World Cup. A community-wide event will begin and end with Series 4 of Festival Playlist. Dubbed the Horizon World Cup, the event is a competition between different countries and the cars hailing from those countries. Players can route for their favorite country by driving cars from those locations in Seasonal Championships, Playground Games, and more.
  • The countries participating in the Horizon World Cup include France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America
  • Each time a player completes a Festival Playlist Event (like a Seasonal Championship or Playground Games), the country from which their car originates will earn a point
  • At the end of Series 4, the country that has accumulated the most points will unlock a reward for the entire community
• Festival Playlist cars. Forza Horizon 5 is all about cars, and Series 4 is no different. Four brand-new cars can be earned by completing the Series 4 Festival Playlist, including:
  • 2012 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0
  • 2013 Wuling Sunshine S
  • 2015 MG MG3
  • 2016 NIO EP9
• Car Pass cars. The Forza Horizon 5 Car Pass DLC nets players a new car every week, meaning four new entries are arriving throughout Series 4.
  • 1992 Mazda 323 GT-R
  • 2005 MG XPower SV-R
  • 2010 Porsche 911 Sport Classic
  • 2021 Volkswagen Golf R
• Showcase remixes. For the first time, the FH5 Festival Playlist is remixing Showcase Events for players to enjoy, both at the open and the close of the Horizon World Cup.
  • Buggy and the Best is getting remixed with a new car and music, and is slightly more difficult
  • On a Wing and a Prayer is getting remixed with a new car, music, and time of day, as well as differences in the world
• Other changes and additions. There are plenty more great changes and additions coming in the Series 4 Festival Playlist update, including:
  • More of a focus on street racing than PR Stunts (because of the Horizon World Cup)
  • New Vanity Items and Car Horns, including a gifted race suit for each country competing in the Horizon World Cup
  • Chinese (Simplified) voiceover support for all dialogue
  • Editable Route and Event Blueprints in Eventlab
  • A ton of bug fixes for a variety of issues including Accolades, Festival Playlist changes, Horizon Open, and more
• Series 5. Playground Games also teased some of what players can expect from Series 5, including:
  • ASL & BSL interpretation support
  • A focus on PR Stunts instead of racing

Forza Horizon 5’s Series 4 Festival Playlist content update should be arriving to all players within the next few days, with Series 4 officially starting on Thursday. With the Horizon World Cup and the addition of Chinese manufactured cars for the very first time in a Forza Horizon game, Series 4 is shaping up to be an excellent addition to one of the best Xbox racing games you can play.

In other news, the latest gift car in Forza Horizon 5 is a 1961 Jaguar E-Type decked out in a Chinese Lunar New Year-inspired livery. Any players who log in to FH5 starting today can redeem the exclusive car for free from the in-game Message Center.

Forza Horizon 5 is now available for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. It’s also available through Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
