PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X|S Versions of Warzone Could Arrive With Season 5

The Season 5 leaks just keep coming. With one week left to go until Season 5 kicks off in Warzone and Cold War, leakers have revealed that a next-gen version of the Battle Royale will soon be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Although Warzone and Cold War have various ‘High-Resolution Texture Packs’, fans have still been begging Raven Software for a true PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S version since the consoles were released back in 2020. Plus, we’re not convinced that the High-Resolution Texture Packs actually do anything.

Season 5 Patch Notes Link Reveal Next-Gen Version

The URL for the official Season 5 patch notes were located over on Twitter by BreadisModding and include a hint to the possible next-gen launch of Warzone on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This news was then corroborated by TheGhostofHope, a member of the Cheezburgerboyz and reliable leaker when it comes to all things Call of Duty.

Unfortunately, the actual patch notes themselves are private. But, the URL is from Raven Software and includes the following text:

“/call-of-duty-bocw-warzone-season-five-patch-notes-next-gen-launch”

Fans can check out the link themselves by clicking here, which will take them to an official Raven Software page which states “Sorry, an unexpected error occurred”. But, it’s about the text in the URL that’s important, with the end of the link stating ‘next-gen launch’.

The only reason we found out about the whole next gen launch update thing with Season 5 of Warzone was because they put it in the patch notes link itself which we found via a redirect link that Raven uses for every patch notes update in their tweets.

BreadisModding went on to state that they believe a next-gen version of Warzone is extremely likely, and could even be brought over to 2019’s Modern Warfare.

Although the URL in question is an official Raven Software link, it’s important to take things like this with a grain of salt until the developers officially announce it. But, it looks like Warzone fans are finally receiving a next-gen version very soon. Could we finally get a FOV slider?

When Is Season 5 of Warzone and Cold War?

Season 5 of Warzone and Cold War has been confirmed by Treyarch Studios and Raven Software for Thursday, August 12th.

Pre-loads will likely be available around 24 hours before for Black Ops Cold War.
