PlayStation Boss fumbled to Europe to voice concerns about the Xbox Activison deal

Sony’s worried about the Xbox future’s potential Activision Blizzard acquisition. In fact, Jim Ryan is very concerned about how likely the deal will affect the videogame industry. He flew to Brussels last month to talk to the EU’s headquarters about the matter in person.

That’s according to a new report from Dealreporter (via VGC). Apparently, Ryan visited Brussels on September 8 to share the fears of PlayStation. The same report claims Google also said that the acquisition would not happen. The reveal comes after a public out-of-town joke between Ryan and manager of Xbox 360, Phil Spencer.

Although it was always assumed that PlayStation wouldn’t be comfortable with such a move, its worries became public through concerns as voiced in Brazil. Various organs around the world can manage a deal of that size. Those governing bodies seek out knowledge and advice from industry leaders, giving you an idea of how it impacts the game industry.

Sony is one of those leaders, and expressed his concern for the future of Duty. PlayStation fear Call of Duty will become an Xbox exclusive one day, admitting that a rival to the juggernaut would be pretty impossible. Xbox responded to that fear, saying it didn’t have any plans to make Activision Blizzard games in its own consoles, and said that it would benefit anyone.

PlayStation responded by claiming the offer that Xbox had made when it comes to Call of Duty exclusivity isn’t good enough. There’s believed a deal already in place means Call of Duty games must go through on PlayStation until at least 2024. The fear is that it and other Activision Blizzard games will become exclusively down the line in an attempt by Xbox to force fans of these games to buy their own consoles over PlayStation’s. However, as we mentioned earlier, doing that to Call of Duty would cut off the impressive sales of the series’ sales by a huge amount.
