Call of Duty 2022: Modern Warfare 2 is coming soon, and we’ve got all the details. We have everything from release date to forthcoming game types and even campaign specifics. Every year, a new Call of Duty game is published. After Sledgehammer Games’ Vanguard, Infinity Ward’s time comes in 2022.

Call of Duty 2022: Modern Warfare 2 release date

Modern Warfare 2 has no set release date. The new Call of Duty game will be released in 2022, in line with Activision’s annual cycle, although no exact date has been announced.

With Call of Duty, we can always make accurate guesses based on the regular release window. Most previous titles were published between October and November, therefore it’s safe to assume this will be no exception. So we can almost certainly expect Modern Warfare 2 in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Modern Warfare 2 has yet to be confirmed for a platform. Like the release date, we may expect this pattern to continue in 2022.

They’re both cross-gen Call of Duty games. It’s possible to play it on both old and new hardware. As a result, Modern Warfare 2 should follow suit.

Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PC will likely get Modern Warfare 2. However, previous-gen versions may have one distinction. Modern Warfare 2 may come on many discs for PS4 and Xbox One.

Call of Duty 2022: Modern Warfare 2 leaks

We knew where Call of Duty Vanguard was going before it came out. Recent leaks promised a direct sequel to Modern Warfare 2019 called ‘Project’ Cortez.

According to VGC, gamers will join US special forces fighting a “covert war against Colombian drug cartels” in the upcoming game. There will be gore, terrible realism, and unique death animations throughout this campaign. The VGC’s Tom Henderson elaborated on Modern Warfare 2’s “sophisticated” AI, saying they’ll be tougher than ever.

“Shoot them in the arms or legs and they die. “Shooting somebody in the chest doesn’t always result in death,” Henderson explained of the game’s dismemberment system. We know of a couple of multiplayer maps in the pipeline.

Favela, Terminal, Highrise, Shipment, and Quarry are purportedly in development for the 2022 release. These old maps were supposed to return in a reworked Modern Warfare 2 (2009) multiplayer, however, they were cut and kept until 2022.

Escape From Tarkov-style solo gameplay is said to be coming to Modern Warfare 2. Little is known about Modern Warfare 2’s game modes. However, an early leak suggests a new Escape From Tarkov-inspired playlist is in the works.

The DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) mode has reportedly been in development since 2019’s Modern Warfare. DMZ has “been in some sort of development since early 2018 (so technically 4.5 years by the time it releases)”, according to CoD leaker Tom Henderson.

This new Call of Duty project will reportedly have 20-35 players, similar to Warzone. Moreover, major CoD sources allege a Rainbow Six Siege-inspired game is in the works.

Attackers vs. Defenders is a unique round-based battle mode. Rather than charging in, teams must first strategize. Players can utilize additional gadgets, traps, and even webcams to scout opponents.
