IOWA CITY — Lisa Bluder’s milestone victory will have to wait.
The University of Iowa announced Friday night that the Hawkeyes have canceled Sunday’s home women’s basketball game against Drake due to positive COVID-19 test results within the program.
In addition, Iowa’s appearance at next week’s Cancun Challenge has been canceled.
“We’re obviously disappointed but understand this is the right decision,” Bluder said in a release. “Our team and staff have followed best practices.
“But unfortunately, a number of individuals experienced symptoms and tested positive. We will continue to follow the guidance of our medical staff and look forward to returning to the court.”
The eighth-ranked Hawkeyes won their first four games, leaving Bluder with 799 career victories. At Cancun, they were scheduled to face Seton Hall (Thursday) and USC (Friday).
Iowa’s next scheduled game is at Duke in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 2. Then it’s Michigan State at home Dec. 5 and Iowa State on the road Dec. 8.
The Iowa ticket office will be communicating with individuals who had purchased tickets to Sunday’s game.
