Preload date, time & how to pre-download PC, PS4 and Xbox

The preload date and time for Overwatch 2 has been announced along with the file size, and everyone on PC can pre-download OW2 today before fans on Xbox, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.

Blizzard’s long-awaited OW2 is very exciting for fans of the original game. There are bunch of new heroes to anticipate such as fox girl Kiriko and buff Junker Queen, and you will be able to unlock these characters for free but by battle pass.

The free-to-play PvP is set to launch early next month, and fans on PC can pre-download the sequel a few days before its release date.

Overwatch 2 preload date and time

The preload date and time for Overwatch 2 on PC is 13:30 PT, 16:30 ET, and 21:30 BST on September 30th.

You can only play OW2 on PC via battle.net. As for PS4, PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, the ability to pre-download doesn’t start until 09:00 PT, 12:00 ET, and 17:00 BST on October 4th.

The file size for computers is 50 GB, meanwhile it is 30 GB for console. If you plan to play on PC, below were the minimum and recommended system requirements for the PvP beta:

Minimum:

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i3 or AMD Phenom X3 8650
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 600 series, AMD Radeon HD 7000 series
  • RAM: 6 GB
  • HDD: 50 GB

Recommended:

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 5
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD R9 380
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • HDD: 50 GB

How to pre-download Overwatch 2

You can only preload and pre-download Overwatch 2 on September 30th for PC if you are an existing owner of the first game, or if you own the Watchpoint Pack.

Meanwhile, you need to own the first game on either PS4, PS5, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch to pre-download OW2 on console. If you don’t own OW1 or you don’t pre-order the Watchpoint Pack, new PC and console users will have to wait until 12:00 PT, 15:00 ET, and 20:00 BST on October 4th to download the game.

For PC, the preload will happen automatically in the background if you have automatic updates enabled on battle.net. If you don’t have automatic updates enabled, you will need to follow the below steps:

  • Click the gear icon on the right side of ‘play’
  • Select ‘Check for Updates’

OW2 Watchpoint Pack

If you don’t own OW1, you need the Watchpoint Pack to pre-download Blizzard’s sequel.

This package costs £34.99 and comes with the following bonuses (via PSN store):

  • 5 Epic skins
  • 2000 Overwatch Coins
  • Overwatch 2 Player Icon
