Preload for GTA Trilogy on PS5 and PS4 is now available

In less than a week, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will be released, and anticipation for the collection is great. Xbox gamers may already begin preloading the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy so that they’ll be ready to play when the November 11 release date arrives. PlayStation gamers will have to wait a little longer to begin preloading GTA Trilogy, but it should now be accessible to all PS4 and PS5 owners.

While those unfamiliar with the games may be confused as to why the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas file size is so much bigger than the other games, it makes sense. After all, San Andreas is huge compared to Vice City and GTA 3, with a significantly larger open world and many new gameplay features. Combine the sheer size of San Andreas with the more-intensive graphics that GTA Trilogy is bringing to the table, and it’s really no surprise that it has such a bigger file size when compared to the other games in the collection.

The GTA Trilogy preload is live on PS4 and PS5, giving those that pre-order the chance to download the games in advance. Since GTA Trilogy consists of three different games, there are three different file sizes that PS4 and PS5 gamers have to keep in mind, and it’s worth pointing out that they don’t have to download all of the games at once. The Grand Theft Auto 3 file size is 5.2 GB, the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City file size is 10.7 GB, and the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas file size is 22.6 GB.

PlayStation gamers can pre-order and preload GTA Trilogy now, though PlayStation Now subscribers may want to hold off. If someone is only interested in playing Grand Theft Auto 3, then a PlayStation Now subscription would be the smarter economical choice. GTA 3 is coming to PlayStation Now on December 7, so while it would mean waiting a bit longer to play, those with PS Now could save some money if they wait.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition launches November 11 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

Of course, going that route would leave gamers out of playing the revamped versions of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and San Andreas, both of which offer some pretty significant improvements over GTA 3. Not to mention GTA fans likely want to get the full experience and see how all these PS2-era Grand Theft Auto games feel with GTA 5-style controls and new graphics.
