GfK has reported that the PS5 has sold one million units in the UK, becoming the region’s fastest-selling PlayStation console after having reached the milestone in just 39 weeks.
The console passed the one million figure back in August, achieving it three weeks faster than the PS4, which up until July was trending ahead of Sony’s new home console. However, new stock for the PS5 quickly shifted things in favour of the new system, which outsold Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X/S in August.
Overall, the four-week period ended August 28 saw more than 151,000 game consoles sold in the UK, which brings the total number of systems moved so far this year to nearly 1.4 million.
Elsewhere, the DualSense controller topped the accessories chart in August 2021, with the standard white version coming out on top ahead of the DualShock 4. The Pulse 3D Wireless Headset also performed well, as did the DualSense Red and Black variations.

The PS5 launched in November 2020 in the UK, US, and other major territories, although stock shortages have meant that the system has been difficult to acquire.
