Trailer for Play Like Never Before | PS5
Update: The PS5 is now in stock at Studio. It could drop at AO, Smyths Toys and Argos today. Read on for more information.
The PS5 launched in November 2020, but supply problems and a global shortage of semiconductors have slowed production of Sony’s next-generation console to a crawl. New stock is hard to find, and when it does appear the PS5 sells out fast.
August has been one of the best months ever for PS5 restocks, seeing multiple drops at Very, Smyths Toys, BT and EE, as well as restocks at Argos, Amazon and Game. There were around 35 drops in total. The question now is: will September be able to top that incredible figure? It’s been a slow start, but we still have hope.
If you’re still on the lookout for a PS5, you’ve come to the right place. Our liveblog is on hand to give you the latest insight on Playstation 5 restocks from all major UK retailers, both online and in-store, as well as providing details on rumoured releases, the latest PS5 games and accessories to snap up.

Studio PS5 stock is now live
And there we have it! The first drop of the month – from Studio, of all places! Studio has just gone live with a PS5 disc edition bundle with a pulse 3D wireless headset and a copy of Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut for £609.99 (Studio.co.uk).
It’s the first retailer to bundle the new Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut game with the PS5. Hopefully more retailers will follow suit.

Is there a PS5 AO drop coming soon?
We’ve been nattering away about AO.com for weeks now, but the retailer has still yet to drop the console. It was the only retailer not to have a restock in August, so we’re really hoping it won’t let us down this month as well. There’s a chance that it could drop today or tomorrow. But in true AO style, there’s no real rhyme or reason to its drops – it could restock the console at any time of the day. Just keep yourselves plopped onto this page and we’ll let you know as soon as the console becomes available.

What PS5 stock drops could we see today?
Good morning PS5 hunters and welcome to another glorious day of PS5 stock tracking action. We haven’t really gotten off to any kind of start this month, but we’re hoping our fortunes will start to change today.
This morning, we have three retailers in our sights – AO.com, Smyths Toys and Argos. We’ll be bringing you through all the details of those potential drops, as well as delivering any PS5 news more generally all day long. Stick around, PS5 seekers.

A recap of today’s PS5 restock events
We’d like to say that the first day of the month has been an eventful one, but it kind of, well, hasn’t. Amazon didn’t drop today, meaning that it’s very unlikely to drop at all this week. The John Lewis & Partners drop has also reportedly been pushed back to the end of the month.
The retailers are dropping like flies (and we don’t mean dropping stock like flies), and it seems as if the UK’s shortage in… er, everything at the moment is also delaying us being able to get our hands on the PS5. That said, let’s keep our fingers crossed for an AO.com or Smyths Toys drop tomorrow. Join us back here then for some more stock tracking action. G’night for now!

Need a new wireless gaming headset?
Give yourself an edge while playing with a gaming headset like this Razer blackshark V2 pro (£64.12, Amazon.co.uk). It earned the top spot in our edit of the best gaming headsets.
“Thanks to Razer’s offering, you don’t have to spend beyond £300 on a wireless gaming headset to get excellent in-game sound,” our tester said. “Aimed at esports players, the headset offers superb directional audio and a superbly clear microphone ensuring your team communication is completely unimpeded.”

‘Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart’ PS5 review
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (£59, Amazon.co.uk) is another PS5 exclusive we really love. It’s also frequently bundled with the PS5 whenever there is a drop.
The game began life as a franchise in 2002, and it’s had more than a dozen new releases ever since. Rift Apart is just the latest.
“Rift Apart has charm to burn, in its character design, lively combat mechanics, and explorable levels that feel large without seeming maze-like, busy without being cluttered,” said our reviewer who gave the game five stars. “It’s big, it’s bright, and it’s almost impossible not to love.”

Best PS5 games 2021
Since the PS5 was first released back in November, the console has amassed a healthy collection of must-play exclusives.
In the bestselling Spider-Man: Miles Morales (£44.99, Currys.co.uk), Peter Parker is replaced with his awkward teenage protégé, Miles Morales. A next-generation spin-off, Spider-Man: Miles Morales refines the original’s formula,” our reviewer said. “This is a streamlined adventure with a more focused story, far less busy work and an endearingly clumsy protagonist still getting to grips with his powers.”
Meanwhile, Demon’s Souls (£57.99, Currys.co.uk) on PS5 is a showcase of what the new console is capable of. “The oppressive gothic architecture, yawning arches and festering dungeons of this cult classic look spectacular on the new hardware, while remaining faultlessly faithful to the aesthetic and vibe of the original game,” our reviewer said.

When can we expect a Game PS5 drop?
Game is heavily tipped for a September PS5 restock next week. In late August, Game’s PS5 bundles page was updated with new bundle options that all had a release date for 17 September.
Previous restock patterns suggest the drop could land a week and a half earlier, with a restock likely to take place between 8 and 9 September.
The cheapest bundle costs £389.98 and includes the console as well as a T-shirt and a hat. You can view Game’s PS5 bundles page for more.

Why is there a PS5 shortage?
For those of you wondering why it’s so desperately difficult to get a PS5, we’ve got one word for you: Covid-19.
The PS5 launched in the middle of a global health crisis when production lines across the globe were shut down and everyone was encouraged to stay at home. The demand for home electronics shot through the roof as people found themselves with nothing to do but bake banana bread, leading to a shortage in semiconductors, the chips which power the PS5 and many other consumer gadgets.
This messy situation is what has led to the current shortage of PS5 consoles. If you want to read more about why it’s so hard to buy a PS5, have a read of our explainer on the PS5 shortage. Sony’s boss expects production of PS5 consoles to have ramped up over the past summer and fully replenished shelves are on the periphery this autumn.
