PS5 UK restock: Tesco issues urgent warning to PS5 customers as shoppers hit by new rules

Tesco has issued an urgent warning to PS5 customers after scammer sites offer pre-orders of the console.

The PS5 is the most sort after game console in the world currently but stock shortage has led to many missing out.

Due to the shortage, Tesco has hit shoppers with new rules for when it’s their turn to purchase the desirable gaming device, reports BirminghamLive.

The console launched last year, with Sony dropping the initial release in November, having taken pre-orders from two months previously.

Tesco restocked on Friday (March 19) through a legitimate website, and has moved to reassure customers of its authenticity, but to confuse matters, is also warning consumers that scam sites are being used.

Tesco says on its website: “We have now sold out of PS5.

“We have been made aware of an unofficial pre-order site using the Tesco Branding. This is in no way affiliated with Tesco or Activate OnDemand.

“Please do not use these sites to pre-order a PS5 or Xbox.”

There is no further info on the scam sites.

The supermarket chain added in a handy Q&A on its website: “We do not have visibility of any future stock at this time.

“The digital version is not available to reserve at this time.

“There is a limit of 1 console per customer in place. We are unable to deliver orders at the moment and they must be collected from your chosen store within 2 days of the collection date.

“You will pay for your order when you come to collect it at the Customer Service Desk in store.”

It added: “You can collect Clubcard points and also redeem your Clubcard vouchers when paying for your order in-store.”
