Release Date for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin

Next up for your consideration on bad video game names is Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin on Xbox. However, today is not the day to lambast as during the Square Enix Tokyo Game Show 2021 presentation we were treated to a new trailer and more importantly, a release date.

First up though, the trailer:

I’m going to gloss over the fact that we see a cute little cactuar implode, but I’m not happy about it. This latest trailer expands on a lot of the story we should expect from Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, as it confirms itself to be some sort of re-imagining of the very first Final Fantasy title. There was also the first look at the logo for the series’ 35^th anniversary, which will be taking place in 2022 where hopefully there is much more to come.

Then finally, we got the release date. 18^th March 2022. In what is already a stacked beginning to 2022, that is currently a week before Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and three weeks after the Saints Row reboot. It is getting crowded, folks!

News also came through of a new playable demo for Stranger of Paradise, and the first one to arrive on Xbox. From the 1^st October until 11^th October you can download a demo from the Xbox Store to get a first taste of the game on Xbox consoles. Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is an action-RPG touted as Dark Souls meets Final Fantasy, so a demo is definitely appreciated. This latest demo also introduces the multiplayer aspect to Stranger of Paradise.

Also announced were several different versions, as is customary nowadays. Any digital pre-orders will come with three-day early access, which is also fast becoming customary nowadays. There are also bonus DLC weapons, the Braveheart and Lustrous Shield and the Rebellion sword. The Digital Deluxe Edition is priced at £84.99 and will include the base game, a Season Pass, digital art book and mini soundtrack, whereas the standard pre-order includes just the weapons and base game for £59.99.
