Announcing the latest giveaways in a PlayStation Blog post last month, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan said: “We’ll have more to share soon. We appreciate the support from the PlayStation community, and hope you enjoy our latest content drop – please stay safe and thanks for playing!”

In November 2020, Ryan suggested Sony may have an ace up its sleeve in terms of replying to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass service, which could have been a nod to its plans to expand the Play At Home initiative.

Play At Home was revealed in April 2020, when Sony said it had been designed to promote social distancing and aid indie game developers impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey were given away free, while a $10 million indie support fund was announced to help struggling creators.
