We’ve covered this a couple of times now here at Pure Xbox, but the date is creeping up fast — the classic Xbox 360 Halo games will be sunsetting their online services in just a couple of weeks on January 13th, 2022.
Fortunately, this doesn’t affect the Master Chief Collection at all, so you can continue to play the likes of Halo 3 and Halo 4 on Xbox One, Series X and Series S through that collection. Also, even the Xbox 360 versions will be keeping parts of their servers alive — you can see a full table of all the changes in the picture below:
“To date, we’ve juggled future-facing work and priorities with continued upkeep of Halo’s Xbox 360 legacy services. Maintaining these legacy services today requires significant time and resources which directly impacts the studio’s ability to support projects like Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo Infinite.”
The vast majority of players will have migrated over to the Master Chief Collection at this point, but if you’re still enjoying the games on Xbox 360, or you’re eager to pick up any online-based achievements you might have missed, you’ve only got a couple of weeks left to take advantage. Time to get that dusty Xbox 360 out of the attic!
Digital sales have also now been discontinued for the Xbox 360 versions of these games.
