The remake of Resident Evil 4 is due soon, and while there’s been no official word from Capcom, it looks like the game could be coming to Xbox One.
An Xbox One version of Resident Evil 4 Remake has been seen listed on Amazon, suggesting the upcoming game will be coming to the previous gen console after all. This reimagining of the beloved 2005 survival title is easily considered one of the most anticipated upcoming horror games, up there with the likes of The Callisto Protocol and the remake of Dead Space. There are still a few months to go, but many are no doubt excited to be able to play this modernized version of one of the most celebrated entries in the long-running Capcom series.
Although Resident Evil Remake was confirmed for PS4 recently, there was no word about whether it was coming to Microsoft’s system. The studio didn’t mention Xbox One, and given that the game is coming to Xbox Series and is clearly compatible with older consoles, fans are a little unsure as to why Capcom hasn’t made any official announcement about it coming to the previous-gen Xbox. However, it does seem like a port will be happening, even if the developer has yet to officially confirm it.
That’s according to a recent listing spotted on the UK version of Amazon. A user on Reddit posted the link showing that Resident Evil 4 is available to pre-order for Xbox One, with it being released on March 24, 2023. Interestingly, while it certainly looks as though it’s coming to the older Xbox system, the product description itself doesn’t list the game as coming to Xbox One, despite what the image shows. The listing was spotted a few days ago, so it’s a little puzzling that Capcom hasn’t mentioned anything as of this article going live. Some in the comments of the Reddit thread feel it’s inevitable that an Xbox One port will be coming, especially as the remake doesn’t seem to have an exclusivity deal with Sony.
Much like Deathloop now coming to Xbox, some may be thinking that RE4 Remake has a timed exclusivity with the PS4 and PS5. However, given that it’s been revealed to be coming out for Xbox Series consoles, this seems unlikely. In any case, the listing on Amazon UK strongly suggests it’s coming to Xbox One and Capcom just hasn’t said anything yet.
Alongside this, fans are anticipating the upcoming Shadows of Rose DLC for Resident Evil Village, which is due out on October 28. Given this and the upcoming remake, now seems like a good time to be an RE fan, and it shows that the iconic franchise still has a lot of life left in it.
Resident Evil 4 launches March 24, 2023, for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
