Resident Evil Village’s iconic giantess antagonist Lady Dimitrescu will be playable in the game’s upcoming PS5 and PS4 add-on, the Winters’ Expansion. However, some fans may be disappointed to learn that, for gameplay purposes, she won’t be quite as tall. Speaking with Polygon, DLC director Kento Kinoshita explained that some compromises had to be made with the character’s stature.
“Lady Dimitrescu’s height brought up a lot of challenges during development, but in the end we were able to implement her with a giant stature, taller than any of the other characters,” he revealed. “For The Mercenaries, it’s necessary that the player can control their character easily, and to make that possible we did adjust her height to a little under nine feet tall. At that height, the player just barely avoids bumping into the ceiling.”
The character’s real height, as revealed by the development team last year, is 9’6”, so she’ll lose several inches in the transition to The Mercenaries. Nevertheless, despite the obvious challenges, Kinoshita said there was little debate about whether she should be included in the DLC: “Even though we knew it would be difficult to implement such a tall stature, we decided it was too important not to.”
Dimistrescu’s inclusion in The Mercenaries will be flanked by several other additions to the game, including a new storyline featuring Ethan Winters’ daughter Rose, as well as the ability to play through the entire campaign in third-person. There’s a ton to look forward to, then – but you’re just going to have to imagine those extra inches before you step into Lady D’s sizeable shoes.
