According to a report by Dexerto, Riot Games is conducting several interviews among Valorant players to investigate allegations regarding match-fixing. Some of these players who are allegedly involved in match-fixing are also under investigation by Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) for speculated match-fixing in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
One of Dexerto’s sources, who was approached as part of this investigation, revealed that it began after people started talking about alleged match-fixing in North American Mountain Dew League (MDL). Several players who are being investigated in this have moved to Valorant. It’s unclear whether these players are involved in match-fixing in Valorant esports too.
Another source revealed that they weren’t convinced by Riot’s approach of interviewing. They said, “A lot of the questions were vague and not about specific times. I was asked if I knew anything about [one of the accused players] ever fixing a match and other questions like that. Everyone knows which players did it. We all talk among ourselves. Some [players] have confessed privately but if they don’t do that when Riot ask them I don’t see what they can do about it.”
Riot Games takes issues regarding cheating in Valorant pretty seriously to protect the integrity of its esports scene. Riot had recently banned an Indian pro Valorant player for using third-party software.
