The Muir and Pasadena football teams have been playing their home games at the Rose Bowl this season due to field renovations at their schools, and the Rose Bowl has also let other Pasadena schools play there, too.
Rio Hondo Prep and Pasadena Poly played their rivalry game at the Rose Bowl last week.
This week, La Salle will take on Harvard-Westlake for the Del Rey League title on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Rose Bowl. And for the first time, the Rose Bowl will allow some fans — limited to family members of players and coaches – to attend the games at the stadium. The recently loosened health restrictions by Los Angeles County allow for some spectators at outside events.
La Salle athletic director Brian Walsh said each team will be allowed up to 300 fans, which should cover at least four family members for each player and coaching staff.
Rose Bowl officials also confirmed that Muir will be allowed a limited amount of fans for its game Friday at 4:30 p.m. against Burbank, and there will be a limited amount of fans allowed for next week’s annual Turkey Tussle at the Rose Bowl between rival Pasadena and Muir.
Football isn’t the only sport benefiting from the Rose Bowl’s generosity.
Two girls soccer games are also scheduled to be played there. Mayfield will take on Pasadena Poly on April 21 at 3:30 p.m., and the La Salle girls soccer team will play there on April 21 or 22. The opponent is to be determined.
