Round Up: 14 Switch Games Showcased In The New Game+ Expo

It seems that online expo season is here, and New Game+ Expo has brought a whole bunch of interesting game announcements. It’s often a good show from a Switch perspective, with the participating developers and publishers typically being from the Indie scene, which still very much loves Nintendo’s little hybrid.

Participating companies this time around included the likes of Inti Creates, Idea Factory International, NIS America, PM Studios and Aksys Games, among others. We’ve sifted through the various press releases and details to find the Switch reveals, and below you can see trailers and info on all of these potential gems.

The Last Friend (21st April)

Seamlessly blending both the arcade action of games like Streets of Rage with the strategical tower defense of titles like Plants vs. Zombies, The Last Friend quickly becomes a battle of man and canine standing stalwart against the end of the world. The Last Friend recruits a horde of super-powered dogs to help players drive back the violent mutants and gangs of the apocalypse in a fun, fast-paced hybrid of Brawler and Tower Defense.

Samurai Bringer (21st April)

A Japanese-style roguelite action game in which you fight samurai and monsters in stages that change as you play, eventually aiming to defeat the eight-headed serpent! SamuraiBringer will be released on April 21, 2022!

Horgihugh and Friends (16th June, 2022)

Shoot down 16-bit bad guys in Horgihugh and Friends! At the end of a brutal war, countries decided to dismantle their weapons. When the Gozareans attack, two retired pilots realize their trusty vintage fighter planes are the only means of combating the alien’s powerful weapon-nullifying technologies. Taking to the skies, Hugh and Figaro are the world’s last wings of hope.

Birushana (28th June, 2022)

An otome visual novel game. Fifteen years after the Heiji Rebellion, the Heike clan has reached the height of its power, while the Genji clan remains devastated by defeat. Hidden deep within the mountains of Kurama lives Shanao, the youngest surviving male heir to the Genjiname. However, Shanao harbors a deep secret known by very few.

Unsouled (Spring 2022)

Unsouled is a 2D action RPG game requiring immense elaborate control. Take a break from repetitive attack and dodge action by challenging yourself with the world of Unsouled.

Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 (28th July, 2022)

This game was first introduced back in June 2020, so it’s taken a while for this 2D action series to officially become a trilogy. Keiji Inafune has served as ‘action supervisor’ on the project and introduced the update as part of the NGPX stream showcasing various new releases and announcements. Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 3: La Pucelle: Ragnarok / Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure (Summer 2022)

La Pucelle: Ragnarok makes its way to the West for the first time, originally releasing on PSP in Japan only. Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure returns from PS1, now with sharper graphics and image optimisation options to mimic CRT.

Dusk Divers 2 (Summer 2022)

This Hack n’ Slash Action RPG continues the story of Yumo and her friends, taking up arms once again to protect the Human Realm from dimensional evils that are converging on Taipei’s bustling Ximending neighborhood and its dark underworld, Youshanding. Fight to find the truth and save the city once again!

Kamiwaza: Way of the Thief (Fall 2022)

Set during the Edo period of Japan, Kamiwaza stars Ebizo, a former thief who left his dangerous past life behind to care for a young girl named Suzuna. When Suzuna falls ill, Ebizo returns to the seedy underbelly of Mikado to afford her medicine the only he knows how: by taking up his mantle as a thief once again.

Amnesia: Memories (Fall 2022)

In this Otome Visual Novel, players will wake up as the mysterious Heroine, who has no memory of who she is. A friendly spirit named Orion will appear to help you regain your memories as you explore your world and remember those closest to you.

Amnesia: Later x Crowd (Fall 2022)

A companion to Amnesia: Memories, Later x Crowd features a multitude of different story scenarios, as well as new mini-games. Deepen your relationship with the main characters and sub-characters of Amnesia: Memories and see what sparks!

The Courier (2022)

The Courier is an upcoming open-world game that brings players a unique way to discover a mysterious island world while delivering mail. The Courier is an exciting adventure that features over 8 hours of gameplay packed with locations to uncover and secrets to learn embedded within a compelling storyline.

Underworld Dreams: The False King (2022)

Underworld Dreams: The False King is a first-person horror experience blending adventure, combat, and investigative puzzle elements to piece together a unique psychological thriller. Based on the worlds of H.P. Lovecraft in the ’80s, Underworld Dreams creates an enthralling mystery narrative with gameplay that’s not for the faint of heart.

Jack Jeanne (2023)

Kisa is about to give up her dream of becoming an actor when she is given the opportunity to attend the prestigious All Boys Drama School that she has always admired. She is granted admission with two conditions: be chosen as the lead in the final performance and hide her identity as a girl! Competition at the school is fierce and the rivalry is real! Will Kisa be able to forge powerful bonds with her all-male classmates while competing against them? Will she be cast in the lead role in the final performance at the end of the year all while keeping her secret?
