RSG, TNC getting back on track for Week 7

As Week 6 of the Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines season 9 (MPL PH) played out this past weekend, seven action-packed matchups took place in the land of dawn. Two teams emerged with the highest regard from us this week, making them our featured teams of week 6.

Let’s take a look at the both of them and how they managed to end up on our list. We also look ahead at Week 7, and set our expectations.

RSG took solo 2-0 record in Week 6

RSG Philippines may not be as explosive as the other teams in their games, but doing the job right is their mantra. In Week 6 of MPL PH Season 9, they were the only team to list a perfect 2-0 match record against teams such as Omega Esports and Bren Esports.

RSG first took on Bren on day 1 of week 6, sweeping the M2 world champs in a triumphant 2-0 match record. Clarense “Kousei” Camilo’s Beatrix recorded seven kills and three assists without dying in game 1 to solidify their momentum before closing out game 2 with a 9-5 kill score.

Their second match wasn’t with Omega, however, wasn’t as easy compared to their performance against Bren. But in the end, they secured a 2-1 victory over the MSC 2021 champs and notched their fifth straight win of the season. They are now placed third behind the super team ECHO Philippines and our second featured team of the week, TNC. All of them are also qualified for the MPL PH season 9 Playoffs.

Coming into this weekend, RSG has three rough match ups against TNC, ECHO and Blacklist. They need to secure a win against ECHO and win at least one more match to climb to the top.

TNC being TNC

TNC this season 9 has been consistent all throughout. They are always in the top 2 or 3 of the standings every week, but they were on a different level in Week 6. Why?

Well, they just pulled off a reverse sweep against ECHO, giving the super team their third overall match loss in the tournament. Game 1 favored the side of ECHO. Their precision to secure objectives gave them the advantage to notch the win in this battle. But things were different in games 2 and 3, especially with the last one after Jomarie “Escalera” Delos Santos’ Natalia recorded five kills, six deaths, and four assists to take down the objectives Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno’s Ling should’ve secured.

They ended game 3 with an overall match record of 7-3 this season 9 with 21 points (tied with RSG) from their 17-9 game win-loss record. What a week indeed for the no. 2 overall team so far. Escalera on the other hand nabbed the MVP of the week honors after averaging 1.67 kills, 5.67 deaths, and 3.67 assists.

We already mentioned their meeting with RSG in Week 7, but TNC also has to play ONIC to close out the week. Unless they secure both wins, they will be in trouble on losing out in seeding.

Standout teams coming into Week 7

Bren Esports managed to pull off another 2-0 victory in Week 6 week despite losing to RSG. It was against Onic Philippines who had a perfect 2-0 record the week before. Bren really needs a win this week if they are to remain relevant in the standings.

Blacklist International also took a win last week when they dismantled Nexplay Evos’s gameplay during their match in day 1. The M3 world champs, however, bowed down to ECHO, suffering a 0-2 sweep against the super team. Coming into Week 7, they really need a win to salvage their season.

With ECHO, TNC and RSG in the top 3 nearing layoffs, will we see more suprises on who will join them in the next round of competition this MPL PH season 9?
