Saturday is the third day of Rudyard’s Summerfest with one more day to go on Sunday.

The event started in 1984 and has been going strong ever since in the small Chippewa County community.

The festival started on Thursday with it wrapping up Sunday at the Rudyard Township Park.

Saturday’s events ranged from a dunk tank with several locals taking the plunge, a horseshoe contest, free-throw competition, a car show, blessing of the pets, and junior-sized tractor pulls.

The 4-day event is all about family and unity in this small Eastern U.P. town.

“It’s a busy days and lots of fun and something for everyone,” said volunteer Gary Davis. “Just an opportunity for everyone to get together, and part of it is a fundraiser for the Rudyard Park Board to keep the great facility we have here going.”

A few more events Sunday including a tri-atholon, 5k, mud run and chicken dinner.
